A caucus is an informal meeting between candidates and potential voters where candidates can meet the voters in numerous places such as schools or churches. Caucuses are held to allow people to evaluate each candidate. It also allows candidates of the same party to compete over each other. (drake.edu)
The National Conventions for each political party are held every four years in the United States by the parties that will be fielding nominees in the upcoming presidential election. The National Convention for the Republican party will be held in Chicago on June 2, and on August 25-28 for the Democratic party. They are held to select nominees for Presedent and Vice President, as well as alternatives for the nominees. (Thinkquest.org)
The elction process is the usual mechanism by which our modern democracy fills offices in the legislature, also in the executive and judiciary, and for regional and local government. We re-elect or elect someone for president every four years. (wikpidia.org)
Besides election techniques, canidates can be exposed to the public through media. Also, through the News and apperaing on the television wiether it be on talk show or a debate, or a rally.
The presidential election system is broken when no candidate receives the majority of the votes. The president election system is partially like American Idol or Survivor because some people do pay attention to the issues presented but others may just vote on the most popualr person or celebrity figure. The primary system does not always produce the best candidates sometimes is justs elects the most popular one. The best candidate is not always the best president because sometimes a president might be elected becuase of there advantage over the competition through there money and their popularity.
Sometimes we elect skilled and thoughtful leaders into presidency but othertimes just the best celeberity package is elected into presidency. This is because the best celeberity package is usually the one known by most people and has the most money to work with. To run a campaign it can cost well over 375,000 dollars. This cost makes me feel that the election is unfair because someone who doesnt have the funds that someone else does can simply seem like a better canidate when in reality just are useing more money. Canidates who have less money definitly have a disadvantage over those who have a lot of money. Candidates receive funds through contributions, disbursements, individuals, and cash thats on hand. If i could vote for president in this election i think that I would vote for Barack Obama. This is becuase he has a lot of governing expierence because he had been an Illinois Senator for 6 years and it was said that he strided and was successful in improving upon the areas in which his campaign is centrilized around right now. The Presidential elections are a very complex topic.
